EXPLORED

Pinestone Resort: Haliburton

March 20, 2014

Last weekend, my friends and I ditched our Toronto condos for a spacious villa at Pinestone Resort, Conference Centre & Golf Course. Nestled in the Haliburton Highlands, the resort is situated on 160 acres of picturesque land that’s surrounded by wilderness trails and beautiful forests. It looked like a winter wonderland when we arrived; our villa was blanketed with a foot of glistening snow!

Pinestone offers a range of accommodation options – from their popular resort rooms to their large chalets. We stayed in a two-bedroom villa that could comfortably sleep 8-10 people ($459/night). Each bedroom had an ensuite washroom, two queen beds and a TV. The rooms were virtually identical, which made deciding who gets what room a breeze (usually an awkward decision when travelling with a group).

Our villa also had a spacious living room with a gas fireplace (essential for winter getaways), cable TV and a sofa bed. Oh, and all villas come with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and an outdoor patio.

Once we were settled in, we took a walk around the property to check out the amenities. The resort has a fitness centre, a scenic 18 hole golf course, a spa and an indoor and outdoor pool.

They also have an awesome ice rink in the winter. We didn’t take skates with us, but that didn’t stop us from having a little fun. Check out my olympic-inspired routine…

Pinestone also has two restaurants located in the resort’s main building: Heatherwood Restaurant (fine dining) and Highlanders Lounge (casual). And in the summer, they open up a third dining space, Gallery on the Green, that has a panoramic view of the golf course.

Overall we had a great stay at Pinestone Resort, Conference Centre & Golf Course. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a comfortable stay. We also loved how cozy, clean and spacious our villa was; it’s perfect for a getaway with a group of friends or family. If you’re headed to Haliburton, you should definitely check them out!

My guests and I paid a discounted media rate for our stay at Pinestone Resort, Conference Centre & Golf Course. As always, all reviews and opinions are entirely my own.
