EXPLORED LOVED

Four Seasons Hotel Toronto

May 22, 2014

In the realm of luxury hotels, one chain reigns supreme in my books: the Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts. Yes, they’ve created some of the most elegant properties in the world. But that’s not what sets them apart. Since 1961, the Canadian-based company has been focused on one thing: delivering impeccable, personalized service to each and every guest who walks through their doors. It’s a big commitment, but it’s this unwavering dedication that has catapulted the brand to the top of the luxury hotel market. I’ve been to a few Four Seasons hotels around the world and most recently had the pleasure of staying at their new, global flagship in Toronto

The Four Seasons Hotel Toronto has come a long way since the first motor hotel on Jarvis Street. The 55-storey urban oasis is now nestled in the heart of Yorkville. And since its highly-anticipated opening in late-2012, it has established itself as the only hotel in Canada with both Forbes Travel Guide Five Star and AAA Five Diamond Ratings. A stay at the Four Seasons Toronto is truly the best luxury hotel experience money can buy. Needless to say, I was incredibly thrilled to have the opportunity to experience their deluxe suite on the 12th floor.

Our suite was breathtaking; floor-to-ceiling windows, contemporary design, a spacious living room and a master bedroom that was to-die-for. The Four Seasons takes sleep very seriously (they even have a website dedicated to it). Their ultimate goal: to create a sleep temple where you can have the best night’s sleep you’ve ever had. And that they’ve achieved! From their custom-designed beds with exclusive temperature regulation technology to the soft textures and abstract art that fill the rooms, the interior designers have created a soothing atmosphere that will have you drifting off in no time. The hotel also has a great turndown service; when you return from a night out your pillows will be fluffed , the drapes will be pulled and your slippers and water will be placed bedside…

And what’s better than a great night’s sleep? Breakfast in bed! We rarely indulge, but couldn’t part from our cozy abode in the morning. The fresh pastries and yogurt parfait were divine.

Another pleasure I rarely indulge in is a long, hot bath. But one look at the soaker tub and I had to jump in. As our ensuite filled with the scent of mandarin, sandalwood and vanilla I slowly succumbed to the suds…

In addition to their glorious suites, the hotel also has a whole slew of services and amenities available to guests – from a state-of-the-art fitness centre to a skylit indoor relaxation pool.

It gets better. Four Seasons Toronto also has a stellar spa (the largest in Toronto) and is home to one of the city’s best restaurants (read my detailed review of Café Boulud hereso we were perfectly content spending our entire staycation in the hotel.

Our stay at Four Seasons Toronto was unforgettable. With service that makes everyone feel like royalty, it’s no wonder they continue to set new standards in the hospitality industry. Their desire to perfect the travel experience for guests will only lead to bigger and better things. So if you’re planning a special night or vacation (and budget is not a concern), then look no further; I promise they will take care of every detail imaginable to make your stay truly special.

Things to note…

  • You can order many complimentary items from the TV in your room (from dental kits to baby bottle warmers) and you can even determine the time of delivery.
  • Basic internet is free, but if you want the best and fastest service, it will cost you $15/day.
  • Don’t worry if you forgot your gym clothes. The fitness centre will give you shorts, T-shirts and socks. They’ll even loan you running shoes.
  • All rooms have Nespresso machines.
  • There’s a discrete TV hidden behind the mirror in the ensuite.
  • The hotel has a new house car available to guests (a 2014 Mercedes Benz S550).
  • If you take a plunge in the pool, stick your head under and listen to some music!
  • Make sure you visit the beautiful lounge and patio at D| Bar. They have a charcuterie night on Mondays where they serve housemade charcuterie paired with a glass of wine for $35/person.
