“But first, brunch”. The words greeted me at the elevator in the hotel lobby as I waited to ascend to the highly social and uber trendy Refinery Rooftop located in Midtown Manhattan’s Garment District. Boasting skyline views and an energetic crowd, this restaurant and bar is the place to be for your weekend brunch fest…
The venue is casual yet stylish with a red brick interior, rustic wooden tables, and bursts of fresh flowers throughout the space. Rain or shine, it doesn’t matter: you can dine inside under the glass ceiling with a view or outside on the terrace.
Crowning the top of the Refinery Hotel, Refinery Rooftop provides a dynamic space to enjoy lunch, cocktails, late night snacks, and now: brunch! They released their new brunch menu on the day I stopped by, so I had the pleasure of trying out all the delicious offerings…
I started my meal with a freshly brewed cup of java and the Fresh Mozzarella Doughnuts appetizer. Served with a side of sweet tomato jam and sprinkled with roasted parmesan, this is a must-try if you’re down for something that is both savoury and sweet.
Next out was hands down my personal favourite: The Maine Lobster Tater Tots with cheddar sauce, basil and horseradish. This off-the-wall gift from the food gods came warm and cheesy with loads of succulent lobster pieces and crispy potato tots. A generous portion and perfect for sharing with two or even three of your fellow brunchers.
Other memorable and tasty items on the menu include the Kale & Quinoa Salad (with dried apricots and almonds) and the BLT Caesar Flatbread (with bacon, edamame pesto and a sunny-side up egg). With so many tasty dishes to choose from, everyone in your party will surely be satisfied.
I could spend hours socializing, nibbling, sipping, taking in the city vibes, and soaking up the sun at Refinery Rooftop. The NYC gem is also walking distance from Bryant Park, Times Square, the Empire State Building and the renowned Fifth Avenue shopping haven so if you pop by the gorgeous rooftop to satisfy your weekend hunger, you can certainly make a day of it in the Big Apple!
A special thanks to Refinery Rooftop for hosting us. As always, reviews and opinions are our own.
