Grand Velas Los Cabos: All-Inclusive Luxury Resort In Mexico

January 6, 2026

With panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez (migrating whales included), gourmet restaurants (yes, you can even dine at AAA Five Diamond Cocina de Autor which holds a MICHELIN star), refined service (staff ratio of 3:1), spacious suites, spectacular oceanfront pools, soul-soothing spa and many unique activities (including an exciting new Culinary Week), Grand Velas Los Cabos checked off boxes I didn’t even know I had! And that, my friends, is the sign of luxury hospitality done right…

Grand Velas Los Cabos all-inclusive in Mexico

Having stayed at hundreds of luxury properties over the years, I can confidently say Grand Velas Los Cabos is the best all-inclusive experience I’ve ever had. But you don’t need to take my word for it. This jaw-dropping property has received countless international accolades, earned a Five-Star on the Forbes Travel Guide Star rating list and has been awarded the prestigious Five Diamonds by the AAA! But the best part? Velas Resorts is a Mexican hospitality group that is family-owned. Built by two brothers with a shared dream — one we’re so lucky to be a part of. Here’s a glimpse of what awaits you at Grand Velas Los Cabos…

The Lobby At Grand Velas Los Cabos

Arrivals — sometimes overlooked by luxury resorts — but not this one. Guests are greeted by a sculpture that reads “aqui empieza la magia” = “the magic begins here” and offered a signature drink or champagne from a fabulous bar cart as luggage is whisked away.

The open-air lobby looks out to the dazzling Sea of Cortez and is framed by geometric walls that simulate sails (fittingly since velas = sail in Spanish). A breathtaking backdrop for check-in and a memorable arrival that sets the tone for the remainder of our stay…

The Suites At Grand Velas Los Cabos

Spacious is an understatement. Grand Velas Los Cabos has some of the largest suites I’ve ever seen! The resort has 307 suites that measure 1,180 to 6,081 sq. ft. and ALL have ocean views which you can enjoy from your private terrace…

Suites also have a generous living area, bathroom with jacuzzi and built-in showers, king-sized beds (or two queens), goose down pillows (along with a pillow menu), premium mini bar that is replenished daily and a fabulous nightly turndown service.

The Restaurants At Grand Velas Los Cabos

You can expect high-quality ingredients, bold and innovative menus, attentive service and beautiful ambiance at Grand Velas Los Cabos restaurants. So ya, you’ll quickly forget that you’re staying at an all-inclusive. We certainly did. As for variety, there are seven incredible restaurants onsite and one just a short golf cart ride away:

  • Frida – gourmet Mexican
  • Velas 10 – oceanfront steakhouse
  • Sen Lin – Asian
  • Lucca – Italian
  • Cocina de Autor – MICHELIN star restaurant with a 10-course tasting menu
  • Cabrilla – fresh seafood and ceviche
  • Azul – international buffet and a la carte breakfast and lunch

The best part? There’s no limit on how many times you can dine at Cocina de Autor which is a recent recipient of a MICHELIN star!! Can we please take a minute to appreciate this unbelievable and very unique perk?!

But wait, it gets better. You can also dine at Loto Robata Grill which is located at Grand Velas Boutique Hotel (their sister resort)! The kitchen is led by acclaimed chef Sidney Schutte who holds two MICHELIN stars so make sure to book a table in advance. Combining Japanese and Mexican cuisine and the art of open-fire cooking, it was our favourite meal of the trip. Vibrant, flavourful and memorable dishes await!

Culinary Week At Grand Velas Los Cabos

Speaking of flavourful, if you travel for food like I do, you’ll want to visit Grand Velas Los Cabos during their Culinary Week (keep an eye on their Instagram for 2026 dates and details). The theme during our 2025 trip was “5 Culinary Minds” and the special events blew us away! Five chefs, many MICHELIN stars under their belts, one kitchen…

The result? An exceptional culinary experience that could only take shape because of the collaboration between five immensely talented chefs: Carlos Gaytán, Francisco Sixtos, Sidney Schutte, Oscar Torres and Nahum Velasco. You could taste the passion behind each dish…

Culinary Week At Grand Velas Los Cabos

There’s honestly nothing I love more than chefs coming together to create something new — the energy and creativity is always unmatched. So if you’re a foodie, Culinary Week at Grand Velas Los Cabos is definitely reason alone to book that trip to Los Cabos.

The Spa At Grand Velas Los Cabos

Ah yes, the spaaaa. The renowned 35, 000 sq ft SE Spa is a stunning and relaxing oasis. Although spa services aren’t included in your all-inclusive package, they’re definitely worth the extra splurge because all 50-minute treatments grant you access to a heavenly seven-step water therapy experience…

The Spa At Grand Velas Los Cabos

You’ll want to spend the entire day here cycling through the hydrotherapy circuit which includes jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, polar ice room, sensory shower and a sensation pool. Follow this with one of their unique treatments – which incorporate elements of the desert landscape and Mexican healing rituals – and you’ll leave the spa feeling lighter than ever.

The Pools And Beach At Grand Velas Los Cabos

Like most beaches in Los Cabos, the beach at Grand Velas Los Cabos is sadly not swimmable due to currents…

But don’t worry, the resort makes up for it with their spectacular pools (two are family-friendly, one is adults-only). The Serenity pool was our favourite with panoramic ocean views and a swim-up bar…

Oh, and did I mention that you can whale watch straight from the pool?! Yup. As if this place could get even more magical…

Make sure to ring the gong if you see a whale to alert others on the resort. We were lucky to spot a few passing by in November!

Activities At Grand Velas Los Cabos

From stargazing and beach picnics to new aquatic fitness experiences, this resort offers plenty of unique activities. In fact, there were so many that we didn’t have time to try them all!

Grand Velas Los Cabos

Their Ceviche and Sauvignon Blanc Tasting was a standout and featured local Mexican wines…

We also loved the cooking class with Chef Carlos Gaytán and Chef Francisco Sixtos. It was such an honour to learn from these brilliant chefs!

We also tried their Mezcal Tasting and their Cacao Tasting which dove into the history of chocolate (fun fact: Mexico is the birthplace of chocolate). We even got to make our own chocolate bar from scratch — from bean to bar!

Family Suites At Grand Velas Los Cabos

We got a quick tour of the two-bedroom Ambassador Family Suite and WOW — these guys have thought of everything! Tiny bathrobes, cute teepees, bouncers, strollers, bottle warmers, baby bathtubs, cribs etc. Bonus: they have new baby care essentials (pacifiers, bibs, bottles etc.) that you can take home with you. Amazing right?! You don’t have to worry about forgetting anything because they’ve got you covered…

And for a bit of kid-free time, you can drop the littles (4- 12 years old) at the Kid’s Club. They offer a range of activities like storytelling, arts & crafts, video games, movies etc. Unlike most kids’ clubs that close in the afternoon, this one is open until 11 pm so you can even slip out for a romantic dinner date…

Grand Velas Los Cabos Mexico All-Inclusive

Dreamy, right?! No wonder it was the first all-inclusive in Mexico to earn a Five-Star on the Forbes Travel Guide Star Rating list. There are so many other highlights worth mentioning, but what truly stood out is the amount of pride, care and passion they pour into everything at Grand Velas Los Cabos. Luxury goes beyond thread counts here. So if you came to my blog to see if you should splurge on this resort — the answer is a resounding YES!! Book it now and thank me later.

A huge thanks to Grand Velas Los Cabos for hosting me on this trip. As always, opinions are my very own.
