One of my favourite film festivals is back for its 21st edition! Hot Docs, North America’s largest documentary festival, will present 197 films from 43 countries to Toronto audiences over the next 11 days (April 24 – May 4). And since it’s literally impossible to see all of the documentaries (I wish I had that super power), I spent the last week watching a plethora of trailers and reading countless reviews to come up with my coveted top 10 list. I warn you: the selection of films below is quite eclectic since my interests range from fashion to human rights. But I’m sure at least a few of the documentaries will resonate with you…
You can buy Hot Docs tickets online ($14.60), by phone at 416-637-5150, or in person at their Box Office (located at 2 Bloor Street West). Students with a valid ID and seniors (60+) can attend daytime screenings before 5 pm for FREE! Oh and one more thing: you’ll notice that some films on the website have already gone “rush” – this means that advanced tickets are sold out. BUT you can still show up about an hour prior to each screening and they’ll let you in if there’s room. Hope you have a chance to catch some docs. Let me know if you see something you love.
