Winter Essentials: Tips From Montreal’s Priya Chopra

January 31, 2014

As you know by now, I’ve pledged to fully embrace the Canadian winter. No more hibernating indoors; I’m immersing myself in all-things-frosty. And my most recent press trip had me facing minus 30 degree temps in a city known for it’s frigid weather: Montreal. So, while I was there, I thought it would be a great idea to meet up with Priya Chopra (a local resident and President of 1Milk2SugarsPR) to get the scoop on what’s in her winter survival kit. Here are her must-haves:

1. A warm winter jacket – Priya’s pick: The Belted Puffer Coat by Lamarque ($520). Why? The down-filled, hip-length coat keeps her nice and toasty. Oh, and it’s super stylish with leather trim, a dropped hood, luxurious raccoon fur and a belt that accentuates her waist:

2. Comfortable, flat winter boots – Priya’s pick: Pompelmo boots from The Wishbone Collection ($298). Why? These leather beauties are chic AND practical (they have a durable rubber sole). They keep her feet warm and dry throughout the winter months without compromising her style.

3. Moisturizing lip balm – Priya’s pick: Mèreadesso Lip Treats ($28 for two). Why? Created by a former cosmetics exec, the luscious balm hydrates her lips and makes them feel super soft. Lip Treats are made from a blend of evening primrose, grape seed, coconut and sunflower oils and are enhanced with Vitamins C and E. Added bonus: they smell amazing!

4. Red wine – Priya’s pick: Carnivor ($17.95). Why? The bold and powerful Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep, fruity taste with hints of caramel, roasted coffee and toasted oak. The perfect full-bodied wine for the winter.

5. Nourishing hair oil – Priya’s pick: Mythic Oil ($26). Why? Made by L’Oréal Professionnel, the oil treats, tames and illuminates her hair. It’s enriched with silicones, avocado oil (rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2 and D) and grape seed oil (an anti-oxidant that nourishes deeply).

6. Coffee – Priya’s pick: Krups espresso machines ($999.99). Why? It’s super easy to use, grinds whole beans and is really elegant with it’s sleek design and piano polished exterior. You can also tamp the coffee like a pro, choose the strength of the dose and produce a thick golden froth that’s sure to impress!

7. Facial cleansing system – Priya’s pick: The Clarisonic Mia 2 ($175). Why? It’s compact and cleanses six times better than manual cleansing (it oscillates at a sonic frequency that produces over 300 movements per second). This allows her moisturizer to penetrate deeper and better which is especially important during the cold, dry winter months!

8. Replenishing shampoo – Priya’s pick: Pureology Precious Oil Shamp’oil ($28.50). Why? It drastically replenishes her hair and leaves it feeling supple and shiny. It’s also an oil-infused formula that doesn’t have any sulfates, silicones or parabens.

After Priya shared her winter essentials with me, I hijacked her for a little longer to get to know her better…

Wow – what an inspiring woman! Not only was she generous with her time (which rarely happens in the PR realm), but she is incredibly passionate about her work, her clients and her team (or “sugars” as she likes to call them). Her high school yearbook quote pretty much says it all: “your character is your destiny.” And it’s apparent that Priya lives by these words!
