Windjammer Landing All-Inclusive Resort In St. Lucia

March 3, 2019

In one door, out the other. As soon as I stepped foot inside my villa at Windjammer Landing I was drawn straight to the balcony doors on the opposite end of the room. I caught a glimpse of the sun poking through the sheer curtains and knew something special was taking place on the other side. I was right….

I stood there mesmerized by the glorious sunset and allowed the salty air to fill my lungs. A panoramic scan of the property followed and revealed the most charming Mediterranean village around me. It wasn’t what I expected, but it’s precisely what makes this property unforgettable…

Perched on a hillside hugging the Caribbean Sea, Windjammer Landing is nestled on 60 acres of Saint Lucia’s northwest coast in Labrelotte Bay. Think: secluded villas, powdery white sand and an inviting sea dotted with dreamy hammocks…

I still haven’t put my finger on it, but there’s something about this property that really resonated with me. Unlike most all-inclusive resorts I’ve been to, I felt a deep connection to the island here. Far from the homogenized and familiar layouts where landscapes serve as a mere backdrop, this hotel gives guests a front row seat to the greatest show on earth via its tiered, theatre-esque arrangement of villas…

I found myself searching for ways to prolong my time admiring the view. Breakfasts were had outside on my balcony…

Dinners were devoured by the sea at Upper Deck (my fave resto on the property) as the sun dipped below the horizon…

And sunset walks stretched out the last seconds of dusk…

Although it was hard to peel my eyes from the view, I did find time to take a dip in the main pool (there are six at the resort)…

I also toured the property so I could see the amenities and different types of accommodations guests can choose from. Here’s a peek at my villa:

Equipped with a full kitchen, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a huge living and dining space and a multi-level balcony, it truly felt like a home away from home. Perhaps even more so because there is a Canadian connection here: Windjammer Landing is Canadian-owned. In fact, you may still spot some family members of the late Don Smith (who co-founded Mississauga-based construction giant EllisDon Corp) on the property during your visit.

I felt so much at home here that it was truly difficult to leave. Alas, I had to pack my bags and say goodbye to a resort that captured my heart so the next guest(s) could experience its magic. If you’re thinking of heading to Windjammer Landing in Saint Lucia, here are a few tips to make your stay even more enjoyable…

5 Tips For The Perfect Stay At Windjammer Landing

1) If you’re heading over with kids or want immediate access the amenities/beach/restaurants, I highly recommend booking the Luxury Three-Bedroom Beachfront Villa. That’s because many of the other villas require a shuttle to get to and from given the cliff-side accommodations. So, if you have a stroller/wheelchair or just don’t want to have to rely on a shuttle to get around, the beachfront options are for you!

2) I recommend skipping out on room service — it takes a bit of time given the labyrinth the drivers have to navigate & there is a delivery charge. Instead, head to one of the restaurants and enjoy your meals with a view. I highly recommend Upper Deck, especially right before sunset…

3) If you’re looking to party, this isn’t the resort for you. The vibe is relaxed and very quiet — it’s ideal for couples or a small group of friends in my opinion. There’s plenty of energy around the island though, especially if you head there during the Roots & Soul Music Festival like I did!

4) The WiFi can be spotty/unreliable in the villas. This can be great if you want to unplug and squeeze in some R&R, but if you have to work or need internet access for other reasons, it’s better to book a room closer to the main lobby.

5) Be sure to check the activity listings by the front desk daily as there’s plenty to do during your stay at Windjammer Landing. From water sports and fitness classes to tennis clinics and unique games (like coconut bowling), they have a range of activities that will keep you entertained. Oh, and do yourself a favour and take advantage of their spa — they pride themselves in using local ingredients and offer interesting treatments and classes (candlelight restorative yoga, aqua parkour and Tai Chi to name a few).

A huge thanks to the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority and Windjammer Landing for hosting me on this press trip so I could experience the second annual Roots & Soul Music Festival. As always, reviews and opinions are entirely my own.
